Because of continuing biosecurity issues, Smiling Hill Farm will continue to restrict access to all livestock for the 2002 season. The Barnyard Animal Exhibits and Petting Farm will be closed. More info can be found at the Homeland Security Section of the USDA website http://www.usda.gov
Smiling Hill Farm is very concerned about the biosecurity threat and we are unable to access the risk ourselves and can only rely upon the recommendations of the USDA. We have a viable agricultural entity that stands behind the Petting Farm and Animal Exhibits. Many petting farms are ONLY exhibits which is their primary business and do not have a viable working farm attached to their attractions. These places have a different exposure and are willing to take risks that Smiling Hill Farm is unwilling to take at this time. We look forward to welcoming the general public back to the farm at some point in the future.
Please note that Smiling Hill Farm will continue to provide their award winning white and flavored milks bottled at the farm in enviromentaly friendly glass bottles. Smiling Hill Farm will also continue to produce and distribute their icecream, butter and other dairy products. The Smiling Hill Farm Dairy Store & Ice Cream Shop on Route 22 at the Westbrook Scarborough town line, will remain open.
